This weekend, my summer roommate Javairia became engaged to a young man named Shafraz. It was a beautiful ceremony, and VERY interesting. In the muslim tradition, the engagement is VERY important. It is essentially an agreement between two families which says that these two individuals are off the market and that they will collectively choose a date that is pleasing to both parties. It also gives them permission to enter "Kitbah", which is essentially an islamic form of courting and involves quite a few rules and regulations. Anyways, I am just so happy that Java is engaged and thought I would share my experience with you all!

Kitbah!
